South Cariboo Search And Rescue (SCSAR) is based near 100 Mile House, BC.  SCSAR operates under the direction of the 100 Mile House and Clinton RCMP detachments. We are one of about 100 Search & Rescue teams in the British Columbia Provincial Emergency Program.  We are an incorporated non-profit society and registered charity.

When mobilized by the RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, Fire Departments or the BC Coroner’s Service, SCSAR provides a service to the citizens and visitors of the South Cariboo area by:

        * Searching for lost, missing and overdue persons and

* Implimenting rescues that involve swiftwater, lake ice, technical rope or avalanche response situations.

In addition, we:

* Provide mutual aid and support to neighbouring teams

* Assist with difficult recoveries

* Distribute evacuation alerts and orders

* Conduct evidence searches

* Organize and develop specialized response teams

* Increase community awareness in outdoor safety

* Conduct fundraising activities

SCSAR is funded by generous corporate and public donations, government grants, fundraising efforts and an annual contribution of funds from the Cariboo Regional District and District of 100 Mile House through CRD Bylaw 4285.
